Explain the significance of Passover, the Last Supper, and the Feeding of the 5,000 —three meals the Lord shared with his people.

Passover marked the night the angel of death passed through Egypt. The Lord gave protection to the Israelites who marked their doorposts with lamb’s blood and offered a special memorial feast. At the Last Supper, Jesus blessed the bread and wine and distributed them as his Body and Blood. He was about to “pass over” to new life through his Death, Resurrection, and Ascension. At the feeding of the 5,000, the bread was a sign of the Eucharist, the special food Jesus would share with the whole world.

Young people today can be nourished by the Lord through the Sacraments, through the Scriptures, by doing good works, by forgiving one another, and so on.
