Name any five symbols associated with the Mar Thoma Order of Worship. Briefly describe each symbol.

Tableetha: It is a small rectangular wooden tablet or board placed upon the thronos. Tableetha can be used as a portable altar. It  is kept as a reminder for purity.

Thronos: The consecrated table that serves as the altar in the Madbaha is called ‘Thronos’. The Thronos is made of stone and is a symbol of divine presence. This is the table,

which is used for the consecration of the elements in the Holy Qurbana.

Madbaha: The word Madbaha is an Aramaic word meaning an altar to celebrate the Qurbana. Madbaha reminds us of the divine presence of God.

Incense: an offering. The smoke from the incense is a symbol of the divine presence. The cloud and incense stand for the invisible presence of the Lord.

Censer: Three chains on censer stand for the Holy Trinity. The bells attached to the chains symbolizes the teachings of the twelve Apostles.

Cross: symbolizes eternal life granted to humanity through Christ's sacrificial act.  It symbolizes light, peace, and the new life received through Christ.

Kappa: vestment that the priest wears during Holy Qurbana and other sacraments.  They are made "for glory and beauty".

Light: calls us to shine light the light in a world of darkness
