To explain, students need to use evidence and make connections or causal relationships. Analytical language can be used, such as, 'therefore, due, so, hence, as a result, etc.'. Students should be making explicit (direct) applications to the key and related concepts of the unit. In this way, students are not just describing or giving facts, they are thinking deeper and synthesizing ideas.
