What PASS Stands For

  1. Pull the Pin: Remove the safety pin at the top of the extinguisher to unlock the handle. 
  2. Aim at the Base of the Fire: Direct the nozzle or hose at the source of the flames, not the flames themselves.  
  3. Squeeze the Handle: Press the lever or handle slowly and evenly to release the extinguishing agent. 
  4. Sweep from Side to Side: Move the nozzle in a sweeping motion across the base of the fire until it is fully extinguished.
