Every sentence has these two main parts.

Replace the noun "instrument" with a specific one: "Davida played an instrument in the band".
What is a flute, trumpet, or drum?
Identify the adjectives in: "Grandma kept the valuable pendant in a tiny envelope made of red silk".
What are valuable, tiny, and red?
Identify the independent clause: "Whenever I wiggle my ears, my eyebrows move".
What is "my eyebrows move"?
Combine these into a compound sentence: "I can’t believe it. I lost my job".

Identify the complete predicate in: "Cotton-candy-flavoured potato chips never really caught on".

Replace "walked" with a specific verb: "Jennifer and Liam walked to school through the park".

Expand this sentence by adding to the subject and predicate: "The car sped".
