Perseus. Athena and Hermes, together with some nymphs, equipped Perseus with winged sandals, a cap of invisibility, a sword, and a shield. Using the sandals, Perseus flew the the end of the world, to the cave where the Gorgons (Medusa and her sisters) lived. Perseus crept up on Medusa when she was sleeping, making sure to only look at her reflection in his shield so he wouldn't be turned to stone, and cut off her head!
