Benefits of Seeking Safety

What is it can help residents recover from their traumatic past so they can regain the footing they need to move forward in life. Seeking Safety does not ask the client to delve deep into the recesses and details of the trauma. The treatment focuses on the present. One is to envision what safety would currently feel like in one's life and teaches one coping skills to achieve that vision?

Two types of PTSD.

What is Simple PTSD?

A single incident such as a car accident or a tornado, usually as an adult.

What is complex PTSD?

Repeated incidents such as DV or ongoing childhood abuse. It includes such as self-harm, suicide, dissociation ("losing time"), relationships, memory, sexuality, health, anger, shame, guilt, numbness, loss of faith, and trust, and feeling damaged.
