What was the Munich Conference and when did it take place?
Leaders from Britain and France met with Hitler and Mussolini in 1938 in hopes to avoid war. Britain and France thought that if they gave Hitler what he wanted, they could stop a second world war from breaking out. This was later known as appeasement. Britain and France allowed Hitler to take over the Sudetenland. In return, Hitler agreed not to take over any other land.
