When every mistake or learning opportunity causes a negative reaction from coaches, players then can learn to have a similar reaction both on and off the playing field.

They can separate students into groups of ones that can easily learn and ones that have more difficulty which makes the ones that take longer to learn discouraged and they have less chances to grow and learn.

They think that if they easily did something (an example would be calling someone so smart for getting a high score) without much effort, the next time they need effort it would mean they aren’t as smart/brilliant/successful anymore.

-Students should not fear judgment from the coach or peers and should feel confident in their moves during the game.

When favoring students that seem to catch on to everything and are wired to learn naturally, the students that need a little more attention and time to get to those same levels can feel left out and discouraged which can affect their passion and want to learn.

- The process is not quick or easy, however, to achieve this mindset the first step would be to accept that you have a part of it in you. Then you need to figure out what triggers your fixed mindset, and then work on removing that.
