JP is constantly thinking about his friends and how he might be able to help them. There have been multiple times that we wanted some help and without him knowing anything about it, he would text me that day asking if he could help or watch the kids. He once took his and our kids to the zoo by myself without him knowing how much that helped us. In short, he’s a really good dude.

This request comes easily. Jp is one of the kindest most loving people I know. He will help anyone in a heartbeat and cares about everyone. I love his passion for food but his humility to learn from other’s experiences too. JP is an amazing individual and I look up to him in many ways. He has a lot of wisdom and is a great example. He stands with a few as he his a great man, amazing husband and father. We have move many people together, he has helped me in hard times, and we both love good food! JP has an extremely analytical and prescient mind for sports and business, his wisdom surpassing the comprehension of all feeble mortal minds.He also has a very domineering and intimidating physical presence, you could say the body of a Greek God, but even Greek Gods cower in fear when put to the impossible task of guarding JP in the post while playing pickup basketball.But despite all of his innumerable contributions to society (which would absolutely cripple in his absence), JP has a heart of gold and an ego that is inversely proportional to his immeasurable talent and influence. Far more impressive than all of his worldly achievements and secular success is his devotion to his family and his willingness to love and help his friends. JP is a man of my heart and I am privileged to call him a friend.

One of your qualities I really love and admire about you is your kind and loving heart. What came to my mind immediately was how you would escort Tammy and Camille to their elementary school classrooms each morning. I didn’t learn about it until years later. To think that you would do that at a young age, on your own initiative, has impressed me so much. I think that quality was manifested strongly again your senior year of high school. (I know Jenny was a big influence on this, but still you took her advice to heart.) When you handed out air head candy to various classmates who seemed sad or downtrodden, and let them know someone was aware of them and cared. I don’t think you have any idea how much that lifted them and affected them for good. The next example that comes to mind is during your mission—your willingness to work with missionaries that were struggling deeply. Not only were you willing to take them on as companions, but you really cared about them and tried to help them—and succeeded. What a blessing you were in their lives. Joseph, I believe you are one of those stalwart spirits the Lord saved for these latter days. And, I think the Lord is very pleased with the good work you are doing among His children. I love JP. He is a great man who honors his family and his priesthood. A word that comes immediately to mind for him is "faithful" - he is always quick to volunteer to serve, and consistent with the Lord through hard times. I know this past year has been particularly challenging for both of you... What's impressed me about JP (and you) is the way that you've faced those challenges with courage and faith - and continue to roll past those challenges, always with positivity and good humor. And his kind nature is always evident, even as he's trash talking / destroying us in fantasy football : ) Happy birthday JP!!

I have a very close relationship with JP. He’s always been much more than a cousin to me—more like an older, wiser brother and best friend rolled into one. I invariably have more fun and enjoyment being around him than almost anyone else. He brings joy and energy wherever he goes and has an indefatigable personality. He treats everyone with respect and kindness… until they wrong him thrice, and then LOOK OUT lol. He really is the kindest guy until pushed—don’t test this gentle giant. I’ve learned a lot about life from his example and advice, and I especially admire the work he’s been putting in these past few years to improve himself and develop his empathy and emotional intelligence. I don’t think that’s something everyone necessarily sees, but I can tell how intentional he is about everything in his life and how motivated he is to live the most fulfilling life he can. He’s inspired me to work on myself and to keep improving my own family and work-life balance. Honestly, I could probably write a whole book about our adventures over the past 25 years, and it would be a fun one. Soon he’ll be able to say his favorite line for about six months—“you’ll understand when you’re older.” He has too many one-liners to count, and we have a habit of dropping them into conversation with perfect timing. It’s always a good time. From Neil Crookston to “Johanna, Johanna, Johanna,” he always has some inane joke ready to keep things light, and I appreciate that more than he knows. His humor has helped me through tough times in my own life. He often reminds me that “you’re what the French call les incompetents” 😂 JP really has been one of the most influential people in my life, and I’m grateful for him every single day. Love you brah! Mundi- Why do I love JP soooo mucho? Let me just tell you: He honestly loves me back and I totally feel it. JP includes me in his circle of love and friendship, he loves Eden with all of his heart (which is really, really big), he loves his Mikey and Paul Paul too. JP loves to make others, me included, happy! He does this by making the most delicious food just because! He will take your shoes off and rub your feet. He loves to make you laugh and lots of surprises. JP gives great hugs; he listens when you need to be heard; he found a sweet Darrell for me and continues to love and support us both. I love JP for his kindness, thoughtful ways and he always looks for the win-win. I feel so very blessed, truly , to know and be a part of his life. I love you JP!! Happy Birthday!!!
