The insured makes wine and one of the carboys leaks red wine all over the carpet in the living room when he is carrying it out to the garage.
What is NO - wine is not water.

What is YES - The drain pipe is part of the plumbing system and this is accidental cracking.

The insured put a glass of cold water on her dining room table on a hot summer day. Water condenses on the outside of the glass and runs onto the table damaging the finish.
What is NO - the water has not escaped from the container.

While drilling a post hole as part of a fence installation, the client hits the watermain with the auger and ruptures it.
What is YES - The rupture is not caused by an excluded peril.

The sump pump burns out and water enters the building causing damage. The client also wants us to replace the pump.
What is NO - The pump is not covered because of the mechanical break down exclusion. We would pay for the resultant water damage.

What is YES - this is a domestic water container & the seepage is not continuous or repeated.

What is NO - The sewer is not covered for rupture damage so we do not have any insured damage that must be repaired.

What is water escape? Damage to the water heater itself is rupture; the resulting water damage is water escape. In this case, most likely would not cover the rupture as the water heater is 15 yrs old - we know that it most likely rusted out.

What is NO – Water 1 covers the damage from water/waste only. There is no rupture coverage in the endorsement. The sewer is excluded under the Rupture section of the Water peril as well.

The client’s neighbourhood got hit with heavy sleet (1"-2") followed by freezing. It has created thick ice patches around town and typically many drains in front ofgarage doors are now full of ice and frozen over. It gets warm suddenly and rains flows down the driveway and under the garage door causing damage to personal property.
What is NO – Even Level 2 requires that the water/waste back up from an outside drain. If the water can’t get into the drain because of ice or any other blockage and enters into the house, this is not covered.
