Nightmare Before Christmas
Halloween has its origins in ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, which was celebrated in a time when the barrier between the physical and spirit worlds was thin. To ward off evil spirits, people would light bonfires, wear costumes and masks, and dress as animals and monsters.
Later, when Christianity spread to Celtic lands, the church made All Soul's Day on November 1st, to honor the dead. This day was also called All-Hallows and the night before, All-Hallows Eve.
When immigrant brought this tradition to America, it started to be called Halloween.
