Anissa Andrews will serve as the rep/liaison for MRE. She will request info from grade levels/individuals as needed. She will communicate information and resources that will help aid parents in making sure their student succeeds in and out of the classroom.
What is the Parent Liaison for Title 1?
This is the curriculum guide that provides resources & tasks for instruction. PRE and POST tests in Mastery Connect are given for assessing students' progress.
What is RCD?
The social/emotional learning support that will be provided during homeroom each day. The 4 components are: greeting, sharing, activity and message.
What is SECOND STEP?
This should not be used during instructional time, or while monitoring students. They should remain on vibrate. There are other options available for conducting school business so that you don't have to use your personal device.
What are TELEPHONES?
This should be done through Veritime by all staff twice day. You should not ask coworkers or office staff to do this for you.
What is SIGN IN and SIGN OUT?
This group works to plan/organize events & fundraisers for the students of MRE. CERTIFIED STAFF MEMBERS WILL BE EXPECTED TO ATTEND THESE EVENTS.
What is PTO?
Parent Teacher Organization
The office will complete the paperwork, but you need to review the students' record w/i the 1st three days of arrival. You should have a seat ready for any new arrivals and send home materials regarding expectations, the agenda & other important items.
What is REGISTRATION?
This will include a verbal announcement. Teachers will direct students to move silently to the designated area and assume a safe position. Teachers should take their emergency bag and class roll book with them.
What are SEVERE WEATHER DRILLS?
aka (Shelter-in-Place)
Includes but not limited to MAP, GKIDS, & GA Milestones. You must report irregularities or violations, you can't assist any student with a district or state version, accommodations must be provided for eligible students.
What is TESTING?
*specifically STATE/DISTRICT TESTING*
Staff members are required to attend all meetings and participate in activities. Hours are 8-4 - but the building may be open later. Dress code can be more casual when you remain in the building. Children are allowed, but should be supervised at all times. There may be times children should not attend. These are held at the beginning and end of each school year.
What are PRE and POST PLANNING DAYS?
As much fun as they can be, only 2 will be allowed this year - Christmas & Valentines. No other types will be permitted including no handing out of birthday invitations, or homemade snacks. Parents may be invited/included to the Christmas & Valentines event IF health conditions permit.
What are PARTIES?
GKIDS is used by Kindergarten and is standards based for 1st-5th grades. Comments need to be specific and show a dramatic difference in student achievement or behavior. All parent contacts should be documented, especially for potential retainees.
What are REPORT CARD and PROGRESS REPORTS?
This is a time set aside for students to engage in instruction outside of the classroom. You will use this time for planning and meetings. You are expected to pick students up and drop off on time, and share a class roster with specials teachers. Never let students walk themselves to this class.
What are SPECIALS?
Teachers and Paras are expected to teach from "bell to bell", students should be engaged the same way as well.
What is TIME ON TASK?
These MUST be posted on the LEFT side of your blackboard. It should be CURRENT, and also include learning targets in a student friendly language.
What are STANDARDS?
This should be implemented at the beginning of the year & integrated with classroom expectations for behavior and academics throughout MOST activities for the 1st two weeks of school. Events will be planned by the AP and counselor.
What is PBIS?
If you are considering doing this, the student should be involved in MTSS. Admin and parents should be notified well in advance, and frequently. Make sure you have data and documents for evidence.
What is RETENTION?
Used for staff only; should be kept clean; students should not be sent here to get snacks or other items.
What are STAFF WORKROOMS?
Comprised of 3 components which contribute to teacher effectiveness. There is a HANDBOOK that includes 10 performance indicators that will be evaluated. (ie: Planning, Instuctional Strategies, Assessments, Learning Environment, etc.)
What is TKES?
These are days that are important for all staff members to be at school. You can view these on the MRE Google calendar. The SUPERINTENDENT will consider approval of personal leave for these days.
What are PROTECTED DAYS?
AKA CRITICAL DAYS
Participation is a requirement of GSCS and MRE. It can occur as a staff, grade levels, collaborative teams, individually or based on interest. You should arrive on time, sign in, be involved and follow the dress code. You register for these through PD Express.
What is PROFESIONAL LEARNING?
When visiting this area, always remember to take a "walkie-talkie" with you, make sure you are moving around so that all students are visible at all times, discuss the rules on the 1st day, stick to the time schedule.
What is the RECESS/PLAYGROUND?
Held each month to honor students. You should follow guidlines and deadlines given by counselor.
What is STUDENT OF THE MONTH?
No examiner or proctor can change these, or release any info until testing in completed and you have been the ok to give it out. Then it should ONLY be given to the parent/guardian.
What are TEST SCORES?
This is someone who fills in for you in the event you need to be absent. You should have a folder of activities available in your class in case of an unexpected emergency, & offer assistance if your neighbor is the one out.
