Like a candy cane, or a rope, I am a cousin of the turned leg, but with a direction to my design.
I am the incredible detail achieved when different shades and types of wood are carved and inlaid together.
Marquetry
I don't come to a point the way you might think, but I get narrow at the end.

You'd see a set of me at a dining room table, but while the others match, two are different.

Cabriole Leg
Very Colonial in design, I am both storage and showcase. Specifically, I use crossed wooden designs in the glass of my doors to make myself stand out.

Spoon Back Chair
I allow a LOT of natural light into the space through my multiple panes and the fact that my shape sticks out from the structure of the original building.

Atop a piece, I create an upward angle. My friend adds a little spikey detail to the center of my apex.

Fiddle Back Chair
A type of window decoration that leaves raised strips of metal in between smaller panes of glass to create exciting texture and designs
Leaded Glass
Named after the letters I resemble, my job is to hold the legs of your pieces out and support them under pressure.
X and H Stretchers
A storage of drawers that looks expanded in the middle.
Bombe Chest
I'm a foot with a corner, fancy or simple, I'm good for big pieces.
Ogee or Bracket Foot
Like a bird or an angel, the sides of me extend out around you when you recline into my back.
Wing Chair
Details (often in lamps or windows) that use the curvy lines of the graceful, feminine, style of the late 1910s into the 1920s

A table with a single, central support to the floor.

Intricate golden details carved and molded to include flowers, filigree, and even busts of women.
