In the Third book, Patronuses are introduced, along with a lesson that they will change form depending on who casts the spell. For instance, Harry's patronus is a stag, Snape's is a doe, Hagrid's is a giant spider, and Tonks' is seen to be a wolf during book 5.

In the Chamber of Secrets, we learn about the Chamber of Secrets, which houses Slytherin's basilisk. Throughout the course of the book, we learn about the victims of the basilisk; Mrs. Norris, Colin Creevey, Justin Finch-Fletchley, Sir Nicholas, Hermione Granger were all petrified in Harry's time, while several unknown, unnamed students were petrified and one unknown, unnamed muggle-born student died when the chamber was originally opened.

The unknown, unnamed muggle-born is in fact know and named. We know her as Moaning Myrtle, or Myrtle Warren.

In book/movie 6, D. Malfoy tries and fails a few times to kill Dumbledore. The first attempt was a cursed necklace, which ended up cursing Katie's friend Leanne before it got to the castle, the second attempt was a bottle of poisoned wine, which ended up drunk by Ron before it got to Dumbledore, and the third attempt was an invasion by Death Eaters and Dumbledore ended up killed by Snape as planned anyway.

There was no poisoned wine, it was poisoned mead.
