Rules are things that keep us safe in specific places like school and home.
What are laws?
A set of instructions put in place to keep people safe, maintain order in society through good behaviour, and protect rights and property.
What is the main difference between rules and laws?
Laws have a much bigger and harder consequence if you break them.
Give an example of a classroom rule?
Do the best you can. Hand up to speak. Listen to the teacher or speaker. Treat everyone with respect. Respect the things that are in the classroom.

Wear your seatbelt while driving, stop at red lights, look after and properly care for all animals, etc.

So us and everyone around us can feel safe and stay healthy, to help things run smoothly, and to resolve conflict

What happens if we don't follow rules?
Someone might get hurt or feel unsafe. No learning would be done at school and at home our house would be a mess.

Laws ensure that all citizens are treated equally and lawfully which protects citizen's rights. If a person is doing something to negatively affect another, laws ensure the person affected is protected and taken care of.

They make sure people are not acting unsafe or hurtful to another person. They help to resolve conflict and make sure that everyone is treated fairly.
