Condition characterized by shiny skin, hairless legs, pallor on elevation and dependent rubor
What is peripheral arterial disease?
Rumbling or gurgling noise made by movement of fluid and gas in the intestines
What is borborygmus?
Unilateral decrease in muscle mass
What is [muscle] atrophy?
Cranial nerve involved in shrugging shoulders
What is cranial nerve XI (spinal accessory)?
Clicking or rattling noises heard upon auscultation of the lungs
What are crackles?
Calculation involving use a handheld doppler to determine the amount of blood flow to an extremity
What is ankle brachial index?
Whooshing sound heard between the xiphoid process and the umbilicus
What is an abdominal [aortic] bruit?
Unilateral weakness of extremities on one side of the body
What is hemiparesis?
Cranial nerve involved in shrugging gag reflex and swallowing?
What is cranial nerve IX (glossopharyngeal)?
What is wheezing?
Round wound with well-defined "punched out" appearance
What is an arterial ulcer?
No bowel sounds for 5 minutes in each quadrant
What are absent bowel sounds?
No contraction or muscle movement
What is Grade 0 (or flaccid)?
Patient states own name, current location, and date accurately
What is oriented x 3?
Extra heart sound heard immediately following S2
What is S3 (or ventricular gallop)?
Interpretation of: 2+ regular dorsalis pedis pulse
What is a normal assessment finding?
Right upper, right lower, left upper, left lower
What are the 4 quadrants?
Abnormality in walking which may result in loss of balance
What is unsteady gait?
Sole of the foot is stroked with the upward motion along the lateral aspect
What is Babinski reflex [test]?
Visible pulsation on the side of the neck when head is turned
What is jugular venous distention (JVD)?
Occasional, intermittent pain in the legs which increases with ambulation
What is intermittent claudication?
Pain elicited by quickly removing the hand applying pressure over the abdomen
What is Blumbergs sign (rebound tenderness)?
Hand deformity causing fingers to be displaced towards little finger
What is ulnar drift?
Glasgow coma score of 3
Patient does not open eyes, makes no sounds, and makes no movement
Fifth intercostal space midclavicular line
What is the Apical pulse (Mitral)?
