What is CPR

an emergency treatment that's done when someone's breathing or heartbeat has stopped

100

What is First Aid

the immediate medical care provided to an injured or ill person before they receive professional medical attention

100

How to treat an open fracture

controlling bleeding, cleaning the wound, and covering it with a sterile dressing

200

What are the steps to CPR?

  • Call 911 or ask someone else to.
  • Lay the person on their back and open their airway.
  • Check for breathing.
  • Perform 30 chest compressions.
  • Perform two rescue breaths.
  • Repeat until an ambulance or automated external defibrillator (AED) arrives
200

How to control severe bleeding

apply direct pressure to the wound with a clean cloth or gauze.

200

How to treat a closed fracture

immobilization to allow the bone to heal properly

300

how do you do CPR on an infant

push your infant's chest down by about 1/3 of its depth, at a fast pace of around 100-120 compressions per minute. repeat this 30 times

300

If the person bleeds through the gauze you then do what?

If blood soaks through, add more layers, but do not remove the original dressing.

300

how to treat a transverse fracture

immobilization with a cast or splint for non-displaced fractures, while more severe or displaced fractures may require surgery.

400

How do you do CPR on a child

Push down 5cm, which is approximately one-third of the chest diameter. Release the pressure, then rapidly repeat at a rate of about 100-120 compressions a minute. After 30 compressions, tilt the head, lift the chin, and give 2 effective breaths

400

How to treat a fracture

If possible, elevate the injured limb above the heart to help reduce swelling

400

How to treat an oblique fracture

immobilization with a cast or splint, and potentially surgery for severe or displaced fractures

500

How to do CPR on an adult

Make sure the head is tilted and chin lifted, and ensure there is a good seal around the mouth (or mouth and nose). CPR is the action of giving 30 compressions followed by 2 breaths.

500

how to take care of shock

calling for help, lying the person down raising their legs (unless there's a leg or back injury), controlling bleeding, maintaining body temperature, and keeping the person calm

500

how to treat an Incomplete fracture

immobilization, often using a cast or splint, to allow the bone to heal naturally
