What is Anatomy?

Anatomy is the branch of science concerned with describing the bodily structure of humans, animals, and other living things

100

What is the difference between anatomy and physiology?

anatomy describes the names of the parts of the body when physiology describes how the function works. anatomy is external when physiology is internal.

100

Explain what anatomical positions are.

Common starting point from which scientists view, describe, and analyze body parts and body movements. Used to describe the body in the same way a compass (north, east, south, west) is used to indicate direction and location.

100

Ben went to the doctor and his doctor said that he needs to take a look at Ben's anatomical position but ben does not know what that means. explain to Ben what the doctor means.

Anatomical positioning is a common starting point from which scientists view, describe, and analyze body parts and body movements. Used to describe the body in the same way a compass (north, east, south, west) is used to indicate direction and location. so when the doctor says that he needs to take a look at his anatomical position he is telling ben to stand straight, with the head, eyes, and toes pointing forwards. his feet must be together and his arms should be slightly out to the side. his palms should also face forward.

What are smooth muscles?

smooth muscles are found inside organs like the stomach, intestines, and blood vessels. The weakest of all muscle tissues, smooth muscle makes organs contract to move substances through the organ. It is known as involuntary muscle—it cannot be directly controlled by the conscious mind.

200

Why is eating healthy important for muscles?

Eating properly from a variety of food sources (as outlined in Canada's food guide to healthy eating) will help keep muscles healthy.

200

List the Muscle tissue types and explain what each of them is.

Cardiac Muscle: Found only in the heart, the cardiac muscle is responsible for pumping blood throughout the body. Cardiac muscle tissue cannot be controlled consciously, so it is an involuntary muscle. Deep-sea divers can lower their heart rates to very low levels, which helps them adapt to underwater conditions.

Smooth muscles: Found inside of organs like the stomach, intestines, and blood vessels. The weakest of all muscle tissues, smooth muscle makes organs contract to move substances through the organ. It is known as involuntary muscle—it cannot be directly controlled by the conscious mind.

Skeletal muscles: Are connected to the bones by tendons. They are voluntary. They are the engines that pull on bones, causing joints to move.

Jack works out every day in the summer. his mom told him that he needs rest for his muscles to contract and to avoid injury. is his mom right?

Yes, his mom is right because every time jack works out he causes microscopic tears in his muscles, and rest is needed to avoid injuries. rest is also important for muscle contraction.

300

How does muscle contraction work?

Muscle contraction is a result of the filaments deep within the muscle fiber sliding over each other. The process occurs simultaneously across the entire muscle fiber and, as a result, the entire muscle fiber contracts.

300

Why should you keep your joints healthy if you're only working out your muscles?

Keeping your joints healthy will allow you to run, walk, jump, play sports, and do the other things you like to do.

300

Explain what to do to get fit muscles so that it makes everyday tasks easier.

Exercise: if muscles are not exercised regularly they will shrink.

Nutrition: Eating properly from a variety of food sources will keep muscles healthy.

rest: every time anyone works out, microscopic tears take place in the muscles, and rest is needed to avoid injury.

Edward likes to work out. his friends tell him that working out without a diet is much better than working out with a healthy diet because of the effort. Edward thinks they are wrong. who is right in this scenario.

Edward is right in this scenario because having a diet is very crucial for fitness and exercising without a diet is definitely not better than having a diet.

400

What are the types of muscle contraction?

there are 2 types of muscle contractions.

1) concentric: muscle shortens as it contracts. used to accelerate an object or one's self.

2) Eccentric: muscle lengthens under to decelerate one's self or an object.

400

How does exercising contribute to the growth of muscles?

if muscles are not exercised regularly they will shrink. exercising helps grow and develop muscle.

400

Explain how to keep joints healthy.

Joints generally take longer to warm up than muscles. Warming them up allows ligaments, tendons, cartilage, and other substances to get ready for activity.

1)Wear protective equipment such as knee pads, helmets, and wrist guards.

2)Treat injuries promptly and get proper medical attention when needed.

3)Perform resistance exercises such as lifting weights.

Ali is starting to keep track of his health and his workouts. he decided to work out and accidentally injured himself while working out. he thinks it is a minor injury and he does not need to take it seriously. is he doing the right thing?

Ali is definitely not doing the right thing because he is not sure if the injury is minor or major and if he doesn't get it checked out, it can get worse and get seriously hurt. what he should do is to go get it checked out, get some rest while he recovers and heals, and finally fix his mistakes in his workouts so it does not happen again.
