How do you fly your helicopter?
Winding it, similarly to a toy car.
Rubber band. Is it included, and if it is, why?
This is the power source for the helicopter. It is wound using a winder.
Is it permitted to use various materials?
Yes
Three required data perimeters:
Flight time, Number of turns in motor before liftoff, Motor size (length) before windup
Material for your rotor?
Rubber
Rotors. What are they?
Horizontally counter-rotating pieces that transform the torque in the rubber band to thrust in order to lift the helicopter.
Can you implement a commercial propeller?
No
___ parameters are up to choice.
3 parameters.
Ten
Motor Stick. What is it?
This is the body of your helicopter. It holds the rubber band, and the two rotors are attached to this.
What is a single-stick body?
This implements one piece of balsa, that is used as the main body of the helicopter.
What is a coaxial flight?
Two rotors that spin on the same axis.
Why would we need a hand-crank winder?
To wind our helicopter; doing it manually takes a long time.
True or False: Spars are used to brace the rotors.
False.
What is a split stick body?
Two thinner spars, instead of one long one, are used as the body. They are connected at the top and bottom by horizontal pieces.
What is a Chinook/Piasecki flight
Dual rotors on opposite ends which are connected through axles or rotor shaft.
Does ceiling height matter for fly time?
No
How many rotor components are there?
3. Rotor, Rotor Shaft, Rotor Hangar.
Are you banned for using commercial materials, even if you it is not pre-built?
If it is not pre-built, you can use commercial materials.
How do you get bonuses?
There is a 2.5x time bonus if the helicopter is Chinook or Piasecki style. Also, a 5% bonus is given to teams that launch (trim or official) within 3 minutes of the preflight period, as well as a 10% bonus to teams which have at least one blade colored black.
