What's the difference between dropping a class vs withdrawing from a class?

Dropping a class: This must occur within the first two weeks for a full-term course, allows for a full-refund of the cost of the class, and does not appear on the student's transcript.

Withdrawing from a class: This can occur up to the last day of regular classes (excluding finals), partial or no refund for the cost of the class, and a "W" appears on the student's transcript.
