What is Twizzlers.
"Twizzers" actually were just called licorice when first produced in the 1800s. They are a product of Y&S Candies of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The company was founded in 1845. First known as Young and Smiley, they changed the name to Y&S in 1870. They then became part of a three company merger in 1902 and became the "National Licorice Company". The company was acquired by Hershey in 1977. Starting in 1990, Twizzlers could no longer be called just licorice, since the company started producing the twisted rods in cherry, chocolate, strawberry, and watermelon, in addition to the traditional flavor, and have produced some limited edition flavors as well. Yes, "Twizzlers", a dentist's delight.
