These 8 items are set by the Fairfax County Public Schools to be the learning objectives for all English 10 students.
What are course standards?
True or False: Completing late formative work does NOT earn a better grade in SIS, BUT it does insure you will earn a better grade on summative assessments.
What is True?
THIS is critical to success in English 10.
What is attendance?
If students are absent, they are expected to check this learning platform.
What is Schoology?
In AEC paragraph, this is an arguable statement that starts the paragraph.
What is an Assertion?
TRUE OR FALSE: Quarterly grades are a snapshot in time and will not necessarily have documentation of ALL standards.
What is TRUE?
During first quarter we will focus on 2 main standards that will cover about 10-15 sub standards.
Work that is not turned in will be coded as this in SIS.
What is MI?
Check THIS platform application regularly to be successful in this class.
What is Schoology?
TRUE OR FALSE: Late work will not be accepted after 10 days.
What is false?
THIS is the textual proof that supports an assertion.
What is Evidence?
This is a culminating learning experience, such as a project, presentation, test, or essay that gives students an opportunity to show mastery of a course standard.
What is summative assessment?
Assignments not turned in will automatically be weighted at a minimum of this.

FCPS has a county-wide policy that requires a student to get pre-approval from ALL of their high school teachers if absent for this amount of time.

This is the written text that explains how the evidence supports the assertion.

Each standard in the grade book will weigh THIS at the end of the year.
What is "equally"?

A student remains responsible for turning in work within deadlines so that they receive THIS kind of feedback.
What is "timely" feedback?
The two MOST important things students MUST have for every class.
What are school laptop and pen/pencil?
A student should do this in advance when they know that they are going to have an approved, pre-arranged absence.
What is "request assignments?"
Parenthetical information that gives credit to the author and identifies the page number.
What is a citation?
All formative work (small assignments done for the purpose of practicing) leading up to a summative assessment will be marked as this in SIS gradebook.
What is "Not for Grading"?
An assignment may close, but the standard will remain open in order for a student to continue to demonstrate THIS.
What is their "understanding"?
In general, these three items cannot be used during class time.
What are cell phones, headphones, and earbuds?
When a student is absent from school, this PERSON is responsible for finding out what was missed AND getting it done!
