Some laws were about worship and culture, and those changed after Jesus. Others are about right and wrong and reflect God’s character—those don’t really change, they just go deeper.

In the story the youth mocked the prophet Elisha, so they were mauled by the bears and faced suffering.
In the new testament the people rejected and mocked God’s son Jesus (like the prophet), so they will face eternal judgement (suffering 🔥💔).

It is to distinguish the laws written TO us (which are meant to be followed til this day) versus laws that were written that no longer apply.
Why didn’t christians wear polyester blends, eat shrimp or ham, and play football in the old testament?
At the time the surrounding Canaanites would blend fabric, seeds, etc. as part of worship
One possible explanation is that shrimp and pork weren’t generally safe during that time due to lack of scientific knowledge and God is protecting them
