Scholarships are similar to grants in that they do not need to be paid back. Free Application for Federal Student Aid: Application prospective college students (applying and returning) should complete to be eligible for financial aid in the form of grants, loans, work study and other awards/scholarships. It determines EFC (VERY IMPORTANT) CA Dream Act is the name given to Assembly Bills 130 & 131, which allow some undocumented students to apply for and receive state-based financial aid and institutional scholarships. AB 130 allows for colleges to institutional scholarships to undocustudents. AB 131 allows for undocustudents to receive state based financial assistance such as Cal Grant or Pell or BOG. This is only if undocustudents have applied for AB 540. Since these students are undocumented, they are considered out of state so AB 540 allows for them to qualify for in state tuition and deems them eligible for Dream. (FSA & CSAC)
