what is the father of bluegrass music. He was a famous musician who is credited with creation of bluegrass music that was derived from his band called the Bluegrass Boys in the mid- late 1900s in Rosine, KY.
KERA
what is the Kentucky Educational Reform act of 1990 better paid and better educated teachers. It provided more technology in classrooms, created a new testing system with funding tied to test results, and gave the education program power to assume control of schools that were failing.
Expanded Gambling
an initiative the KY gov is trying to push in 2023 in order to create new jobs and a new economy that doesn't rely on agriculture or extraction industries. They are attempting to legalize sports gambling to show how the state is attempting to stay away from an economy that relies on agriculture.
Chandler Medical Center

Day Law

a technique used by mining companies to blast off the tops of mountains in order to access a coal seam. This started in the 1970s in Appalachia, KY. It became dangerous to surrounding communities and harmful to the environment.
Anne Braden
what is an advocate for racial equality who was greatly bothered by racial segregation. she bought a house for an African American couple in Louisville in 1959. The house was bombed and destroyed. This led to Anne trying to bring housing equality to kentucky but was eventually accused of destroying this house to overthrow the commonwealth of KY.

Nothing New for Easter
Civil rights activists organized a boycott of some department stores in Louisville in 1961. The campaign urged customers to buy "nothing new for easter" from any store that practiced discrimination. This caused significant economic problems in KY.

Bert Combs
what is the 50th governor of kentucky in 1960. he had big plans for KY education and took steps to make things better. he raised the sales tax to 3 cents to gove a $900 dollar raise to teachers who had a bachelors degree. he also combined smaller school districts to create bigger high schools.

Will Locket Case
He was a black man and WWI veteran who had a criminal record. He was seen near the place of a 10 year old girls body to which he confessed to the crime. however, we are unaware of the pressure put onto him to say he committed it when he didn't. The trial was held February 1920 at the KY courthouse in Lexington. Lynch mobs gathered outside the courthouse which led to the gov banning mobs.
