This Camp was built in 1917 and was an induction and training facility for new soldiers who were to fight in World War I. In 1944, it was used a a hospital to treat wounded veterans of the war. It also served as a Prison of War Camp for 500 German Prisoners, in 1945.

This National Park is located on Smith Road in Shirley. It was donated to the United States government in 1947. It is home to many types of wildlife, and now has a visitor center that includes an interactive exhibit hall and an environmental education classroom.

This estate, established in 1696, overlooks the water in Shirley, and once included more than 100,000 acres of land in central Long Island. It once belonged to one of the earliest settlers of Long Island, William "Tangier" Smith.

This park is located on the Fire Island barrier beach. On the outer beach campgrounds, there are 270 campsites for tents and trailers. It has 2,293 acres, a playground, water/electric, snack bars, grills, and is home to the TWA Flight 800 Memorial.

This river, once known as the Connecticut River, runs through the Wertheim National Wildlife Refuge. People can rent canoes and kayaks to float along this river and enjoy the scenic view.
