Bill
A small group of lawmakers who focus on specific issues to lighten the workload.
Committee
A formal discussion of a bill that takes place on the floor of a legislative chamber members argue for or against the legislation, propose amendments, and discuss specific provisions
Floor Debate
A small group of members from the House and Senate who work together to fix differences between their two versions of the same bill. They make one final version that both groups must agree on.
Conference Committee

Vote

Engrossed Bill
When the President sends a bill back to Congress with reasons for the rejection. The bill does not become law unless Congress overrides it.
Veto
A meeting where a committee debates, amends, and rewrites a piece of proposed legislation
Markup
One of the two groups in Congress that helps make laws for the country.
Senate
The final official copy of a bill that both the House and Senate have agreed on. It is printed on special parchment and sent to the President for signature.
Enrolled Bill
If the President vetoes a bill, Congress can still make it a law by a 2/3 vote from the house and senate.
Override
The other group in Congress that helps make laws. Each state gets a different number of representatives based on how many people live there. States with more people get more representatives.
House of Representatives
A rule that has been formally approved by Congress and signed by the President. It is now enforceable by the Government.
