Describe the sign conventions for convex and concave lenses - don't forget to include which ones are diverging and which ones are converging.
What is:
converging:
concave mirrors do is + as long as the object is real, di is + if the image is real (image is in front of the mirror surface), f is +
convex lenses do is + if object is real, di is + if the image is real (image is where the light passed through), f is +
Diverging:
convex mirrors f is -, do is + if the object is real, di is always - (the image will be inside the mirror's surface)
Concave lenses f is -, do is + if real, di is - if the image is on the same side as the object (the light bounced back instead of passing through to form the image)
