The most commonly used charge of Fall 2025 was Violation of Local, State, and Federal Law. Between OSCCR and HRL, we used this charge a total of 374x. There was only one residential community who had zero cases involving this charge, and it was _______.
In Fall 2025, we introduced a new sanction. Beginning last semester, students could lose their ability to host other individuals as a result of a conduct process. CDs, RLCs, and ADs talked to 111 students about violating this policy in Fall 2025, and about a quarter of those students lost hosting privileges altogether. This is the Community Living Standard that details the rules of hosting.

Students "jetting around" on their e-scooters indoors has been an issue in multiple communities this academic year, but one community has responded to recreation in hallways and public areas more than anyone else. (Hint: Residents have been so defiant about e-scooters here that the carpet has been damaged in the hallways.)

The Housing Intake Form has been used 751x this academic year. Fun fact: You're only 99 uses away from exceeding the total number of uses for the 2024-2025 academic year. This is the individual who receives all Housing Intake Forms and decides next steps.
Who is Kristen Zernick?
This Community Living Standard requires RAs to be extra clear and detailed in their reporting, mostly because KZ doesn't know brand names of various nicotine and marijuana products.
What is Drug Paraphernalia?
When it comes to physical altercations, one community responded to significantly more calls than others. Of the 112 charges so far, 18 of those incidents occurred in this community. (Hint: All 18 of those cases were not only in the same community, but also the same building.)

Marijuana use on campus is up, but one community has everyone beat when it comes to repeat offenders. This community holds the record for number of times we talked to the same individual about marijuana (and it was 8 documented times, in case anyone was counting.)

This is the Community Living Standard associated with physical altercations. Numbers are WAY up from last year. We've charged 112 students with fighting behavior so far this academic year. For reference, there were only 30 cases of this type in 2024-2025.

Residents need to cool their jets - we've used the Disruptive Conduct or Behavior charge on a deeply concerning incline over the last three years. (26 times in 2023-2024, 94 times in 2024-2025, and a whopping 195 times in Fall 2025 alone, in case you wanted to know exact figures.) Only one community has managed to avoid a single charge related to this Community Living Standard in Fall 2025.

This community was formerly home to Grand Valley legend Eric Klingensmith, who plays a critical role in organizing campus-wide crisis response trainings and processes through his role in the University Counseling Center. You met him earlier this year during Behind Closed Doors.
What is Laker Village South & GVA?
Would you believe us if we told you a cat "jetted around" the Central Housing Office this semester following an incident response? Well, believe it. (And it wasn't the only pet that got loose in Fall 2025, which is why this became a Jeopardy question.) The RAs and professional staff in this community did an outstanding job helping the cat return to its unit and owner.
What is WHOJ?
There were 1,454 CARE cases created in Fall 2025. The public CARE reporting form generates a lot of these cases, but there is one other reporting form that populates hundreds of CARE cases. This is the form RAs should be using to share information up to the CARE Team.
What is the Housing Intake Form?
If animals are a hobby, this community was responsible for nearly HALF of the Community Living Standard violations involving pets. (For those who want to know, this community responded to 16 incidents involving pets, and there were only 34 pet cases total in Fall 2025.)

This community was home to our very first physical altercation of the year, which occurred after move in but before the first day of class.

Earlier in their career, this member of the CARE Team served President George W. Bush as a part of the Secret Service.
Who is Ben Witt?
Emergency spaces, or "e-spaces", are used in circumstances where a student (or students) need to be temporarily housed outside of their assigned unit due to a safety concern, which can be related to anything from a facilities issue to a serious conduct or CARE case. In Fall 2025, some students were treating these spaces like their own personal "Jet2Holiday." One staff in particular did an above and beyond job when it came to helping temporary residents understand the Community Living Standards in their community.
