Why is baptism important?
It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Savior, the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus.
Why was Jesus in the wilderness?
Jesus left the Jordan, full of the Holy Spirit, and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness.
Who deserves fame and glory in our own lives—us or God? Why?
Even when we work hard to accomplish something great, we can give God glory because He made us and gives us special talents and abilities. There are many ways we can make Jesus famous instead of trying to make a great name for ourselves.

Why did Jesus become human?
Jesus became human to obey His Father’s plan and rescue sinners.
What is Repentance and why do you think John the Baptist emphasized the need for personal repentance?
Repentance is a response to God’s gracious call to salvation. It includes a genuine sorrow for one’s sin (Luke 5:1-11)
A turning away from one’s sin toward Christ (Acts 26:15-20)
A life that reflects lasting change and transformation (Ps. 119:57-60)
Who tempts us to sin? Why?
The devil tempted us to sin.
God never tempts anyone to sin. The Bible says the devil is “the father of lies” (John 8:44). The devil is against everything that God loves. He might tempt us to sin because He does not want us to follow Jesus.
How did John the Baptist compared himself to Jesus?
John compared himself to a "friend of the bridegroom"

Why was John the Baptist reluctant to baptize Jesus?
He considered himself unworthy to baptize Jesus and that Jesus should rather baptize him.
How can we resist temptation? What should we do if we give in to temptation?
Jesus resisted temptation—by remembering the truth found in Scripture. It’s important to memorize Scripture and pray against the schemes of the devil. When we are tempted, God provides a way to resist it. When we do sin, we can repent and turn back to God. He will forgive our sins.
Why did John say Jesus must increase and he (John) must decrease?
With Jesus on earth, John’s mission was complete. Jesus was the One whom people had been waiting for—the promised Messiah who would save people from their sins! Jesus was greater than John, and John joyfully stepped aside as Jesus began His earthly ministry.
What does it mean to follow Jesus?
Following Jesus means trusting Him, obeying Him, and telling others about Him.

Where do we see the Trinity the three Persons of God in today’s Bible story?
When Jesus Baptized.
God the Father is One speaking from heaven, God the Son on earth as a man, and God the Spirit appearing like a dove. There is one God, and He exists as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
What were the 3 temptations?
1) To turn stones into loaves of bread
2) To throw Himself off the Temple and let the angels save Him from any injury
3) To fall down and worship the devil to get the riches and power of the kingdoms of the world
Why were John’s disciples arguing?
The argument was about the significance of baptism, the difference between baptisms, and whether John or Jesus cleansed from sins. The argument was also about Jewish ritual purity.
John 1:27 John responded, “No one can receive anything unless it has been given to him from heaven. John 1:28 You yourselves can testify that I said, ‘I am not the Messiah, but I’ve been sent ahead of him.’
What did the religious leaders complain to the disciples and how did Jesus respond to this?
They complained about Jesus eating and drinking with tax collectors and sinners.
Jesus said He did not come to invite good people, but He came to invite sinners to turn back to God.
Why is it important to know God’s Word?
It’s important to know what is true about God and about ourselves. We are often tempted when we believe lies about God or ourselves. Knowing God’s Word and treasuring it in our hearts can help us stand up against temptation.

What is the difference between John the Baptist's and Jesus' teachings?
John who was from earth could only talk about things on earth. Jesus—the One who comes from heaven—talked about things in heaven because He had seen them.
