Mouth, esophagus, stomach, intestines
digestive system
Name a bone and explain where it is
Skull, femur, ribs, etc.
What is the function of the digestive system?
To break food down into nutrients for the body to use
What are the 5 senses?
sight, smell, hearing, touch, taste
What is the function of the respiratory system?
To help you breath
Mouth/Nose, trachea, lungs, diphragm
Respiratory System
What is the function of the muscular system?
To move the body and things inside the body
Why do we need the digestive system to break down food?
To get nutrients and energy from food for all of the cells in the body
What are the functions of the nervous system?
To control your body, feel/sense things, respond to things, etc.
What is the function of the circulatory system?
To move blood and nutrients throughout the body
all of the bones in the body
skeletal system
What are the functions of the skeletal system?
To shape the body and protect organs
Where does digestion start?
The mouth (chewing)
What is the control center of the body?
The brain
Which 2 gases are exchanged in the lungs?
Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide
heart, blood vessels
circulatory system
heart - circulatory
diaphragm - respiratory
stomach, tongue, esophagus - digestive
What are the muscles in the digestive system responsible for?
Moving food throughout the system and helping to break it down
How does "information" travel from the organs to the brain and back?
Electricity using nerves
How is cell>tissue>organ>system represented in the circulatory system?
Muscle cell>muscle tissue>heart>circulatory system
Brain, nerves
nervous system
How do the skeletal system and muscular system work together?
The muscles move the bones and hold them in the correct position (standing, sitting, etc.)
Explain the order of the digestive system
food in>mouth>esophagus>stomach>small intestine>large intestine>waste out
What is the name of the cells that make up the brain and nerves?
neurons
How do the respiratory system and circulatory system work together?
The respiratory system brings in oxygen, the oxygen is transported to the cells of the body by the circulatory system. Carbon dioxide goes into the circulatory system from the cells and is brought back to the lungs so the respiratory system can remove it.
