What is the definition of a greenhouse gas?

Greenhouses gases are gases that trap heat on the planet and make it warmer.

100

What is the definition of a renewable energy?

A renewable energy can be remade and does not run out.

100

What is the definition of global warming?

Global warming is the gradual increase of Earth's temperature.
100

What are human activities? Provide an example.

Human activities are things that human do.
100

What is the basic unit of life?

A cell

200
What are the chemical formula and names of two greenhouse gases.
CO2 CH4 N2O
200

What renewable energy is similar to photosynthesis?

Solar energy and solar panels

200

Why do the sea levels or oceans rise when the planet gets warmer?

The polar icebergs melt and the is added to the oceans.

200

What are natural resources?

Resources that are in nature and not created by humans.

200

What is the name of the body system that filters our blood and removes waste?

The excretory system

300

What is created when CO2 reacts with H2O?

H2COcarbonic acid

300

What is the type of renewable energy that uses a dam, gravity and water?

Hydroelectric energy

300
Name two ways that high levels of CO2 affect our oceans?

Oceans are becoming acidic and they are rising.

300

What is a population?

A group of the same species.

300

If B=brown eyes and b=blue eyes, what is the genotype and phenotype of a homozygous recessive offspring?

bb and blue

400

What human activity is the biggest contributor of CO2 into the atmosphere?

Transportation/driving

400

What is the renewable energy that uses the Earth to heat water?

Geothermal energy

400
State why greenhouses gases can have a positive or negative impact on our climate.
Without greenhouse gases the Earth would be very cold. With too much greenhouse gases the Earth becomes too hot.
400

What is per capita?

The average per person

400

In a cross between 2 heterozygous parents what percent of the offspring will be heterozygous?

50%

500

How are fossil fuels created? Include how oil and natural gas are different from coal.

Coal was created 300 millions years ago from swamps while oil and natural gas were formed from dead marine animals.
500

Which renewable energy affects the environment the most? Explain why.

Hydroelectric energy stops rivers from flowing affecting the aquatic life and the life that lives near the river.

500
What is the current human population on Earth? Name three negative impacts if the population significantly increases.

The population of humans on Earth is 8 billion. We may run out of natural resources, more people driving and more people exhaling CO2.

500
What is the term for organisms that can share genetic information? What are the two ways that organisms can share genetic information?

Species. Sexual and asexual reproduction

500

Explain how we breathe. Include the body systems and gases.

We start by breathing Othrough our nose or mouth using the respiratory system. The O2 goes to the lungs and is picked up by RBCs from the circulatory system. The heart pumps RBCs to the rest of the body they drop off O2 and pick up CO2. The RBCs return to the lungs to exhale the CO2.
