The circulatory system carries oxygen and glucose to the cells, where they are used to produce energy for the cells through aerobic cellular respiration. The bloodstream carries waste products from it (CO2 and water) from the cells to the excretory system, where they can leave the body.

RBCs carry things like oxygen throughout the body to all of our cells. This includes cells in the brain. If we aren’t producing enough RBCs to carry oxygen, the brain may not receive enough oxygen, giving us a headache as a symptom.
