The three types of humidifiers offered at Schaal / Greens
What are Bypass, Fan-Powered, and Steam humidifiers?
What is a reversing valve?
Converts energy from flame into DC signals.
What is a flame sensor?
This must be done to the flame sensor every maintenance to ensure good flame sense.
What is cleaning the flame sensor?
The combustion byproduct the heat exchanger keeps separated from the breathable air
What is carbon monoxide?
A control device for the humidifier
What is a humidistat?
Component responsible for de-icing the outdoor coil in lower temperatures
What is a Defrost Control Board / Defrost Timer?
Creates a negative pressure.
What is an inducer motor?
A furnace must be tagged and locked out if this component is found cracked or damaged.
What is a heat exchanger?
This component pre-treats the air in 90% efficiency systems
What is a secondary heat exchanger?
This type of water used in portable humidifiers can plug up filters with mineral deposits
What is tap water?
This heat pump uses consistent ground temperatures for year round comfort
What is a geothermal heat pump?
If the label on this component reads L140-30F, it means the component fails at 140 and closes when it drops 30 degrees.
What is a high temperature limit switch?
You will get pressure switch error codes if these are not clear of blockages, debris, and snow.
What are (exhaust / intake) terminations?
They type of heat transfer when air absorbs heat from the heat exchanger
What is conduction?
The wire terminal that the humidistat uses to control the blower independent of the heating cycle
What is the Gf terminal?
When the heat pump's energy efficiency begins to fall short of the back up / auxiliary heat
What is the balance point?
Varies the burner input rate from 40% full to 100%, often in 1% increments.
What is a modulating gas valve?
What is 1200 CFM?
The style of heat exchanger in which two plates of metal are pressed together
What are clam-shell style heat exchangers?
A measurement of water particles in the air
What are grains of water?
A component used to bypass a metering device in a heat pump
What is a check valve?
Where the gas valve, manifold, and pilot assembly are generally housed.
What is the vestibule?
Never change the size of this component unless directed by the manufacturer. Can result in incomplete combustion and unstable operation.
What is a gas manifold orifice?
When soot and scorched metal are present in the heat exchanger as a result of too much gas pressure.
What is overfired?
