What is a security assessment
Analyze the customer's aggregate security and compliance requirements, risk and compliance controls on an on-going basis. Included in the collection for analysis is the customer's security data as well as a broader umbrella of reoccurring service.

The Apache Hadoop software library is a framework that allows for the distributed processing of large data sets across clusters of computers using simple programming models. It is designed to scale up from single servers to thousands of machines, each offering local computation and storage. Rather than rely on hardware to deliver high-availability, the library itself is designed to detect and handle failures at the application layer, so delivering a highly-available service on top of a cluster of computers, each of which may be prone to failures.

San-based storage designed for business applications. In computing (specifically data transmission and data storage), a block, sometimes called a physical record, is a sequence of bytes or bits, usually containing some whole number of records, having a maximum length, a block size.[1] Data thus structured are said to be blocked. The process of putting data into blocks is called blocking, while deblocking is the process of extracting data from blocks. Blocked data is normally stored in a data buffer and read or written a whole block at a time. Blocking reduces the overhead and speeds up the handling of the data-stream. For some devices such as magnetic tape and CKD disk devices blocking reduces the amount of external storage required for the data. Blocking is almost universally employed when storing data to 9-track magnetic tape, to rotating media such as floppy disks, hard disks, optical discs and to NAND flash memory.

Every customer account receives one or more dedicated VLANs that are secured by zone based firewalls that protect customer traffic. A dedicated firewall will support up to 2 GB of Internet facing traffic and up to 6 GB between VLANs. Intrusion detections System (IDS), Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IDP) and anti- DDOS provided by the best in class juniper hardware.A firewall is a network security system that controls the incoming and outgoing network traffic based on an applied rule set. A firewall establishes a barrier between a trusted, secure internal network and another network (e.g., the Internet) that is assumed not to be secure and trusted.

Cloudera Inc. is an American-based software company that provides Apache Hadoop-based software, support and services, and training to business customers. Cloudera's open-source Apache Hadoop distribution, CDH (Cloudera Distribution Including Apache Hadoop), targets enterprise-class deployments of that technology. Cloudera says that more than 50% of its engineering output is donated upstream to the various Apache-licensed open source projects (Apache Hive, Apache Avro, Apache HBase, and so on) that combine to form the Hadoop platform. Cloudera is also a sponsor of the Apache Software Foundation.[2]

NAS - network attached storage devices - provide a lot of space at what is generally a lower cost than block level storage. In computing, a file system is used to control how data is stored and retrieved. Without a file system, information placed in a storage area would be one large body of data with no way to tell where one piece of information stops and the next begins. By separating the data into individual pieces, and giving each piece a name, the information is easily separated and identified. Taking its name from the way paper-based information systems are named, each group of data is called a "file". The structure and logic rules used to manage the groups of information and their names is called a "file system".

DDos mitigation is a set o techniques for resisting DDos attacks on networks attached to the internet by protecting the target and relay networks. This is done by passing network traffic addressed to the attacked network through high capacity networks with "traffic scrubbing" filters. DDos mitigation requires correctly identifying incoming traffic to separate human traffic from human-like bots and hijacked browsers

What is a Network Assessment
CTL experts work with customers, performing a detailed discover and in-depth analysis of the customer's network infrastructure environment; examining functionality, design and current performance. This provides the customer a baseline for future implementation.

MapR is a complete distribution for Apache Hadoop. The company contributes to Apache Hadoop projects like HBase, Pig (programming language), Apache Hive, and Apache ZooKeeper.[1] MapR's Apache Hadoop distribution claims to provide full data protection, no single points of failure, improved performance, and dramatic ease of use advantages. MapR entered a technology licensing agreement with EMC Corporation on 25 May 2011, supporting an EMC-specific distribution of Apache Hadoop.[2] MapR was selected by Amazon to provide an upgraded version of Amazon's Elastic Map Reduce (EMR) service.[3][4] MapR has also been selected by Google as a technology partner.[5] MapR was able to break the minute sort speed record on Google's compute platform.

Any type of file in the CTL Cloud. Direct upload of 5GB or larger. Object storage systems allow relatively inexpensive, scalable and self-healing retention of massive amounts of unstructured data. Object storage is used for diverse purposes such as storing photos on Facebook, songs on Spotify, or files in online collaboration services, such as Dropbox.

Intrusion prevention systems (IPS), also known as intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDPS), are network security appliances that monitor network and/or system activities for malicious activity. The main functions of intrusion prevention systems are to identify malicious activity, log information about this activity, attempt to block/stop it, and report it.

A NoSQL (often interpreted as Not Only SQL[1][2][unreliable source?]) database provides a mechanism for storage and retrieval of data that is modeled in means other than the tabular relations used in relational databases. Motivations for this approach include simplicity of design, horizontal scaling and finer control over availability. The data structures used by NoSQL databases (e.g. key-value, graph, or document) differ from those used in relational databases, making some operations faster in NoSQL and some faster in relational databases. The particular suitability of a given NoSQL database depends on the problem it must solve. NoSQL databases are increasingly used in big data and real-time web applications.

A solid-state drive (SSD) (also known as a solid-state disk or electronic disk, though it contains no actual disk, nor a drive motor to spin a disk) is a data storage device that uses integrated circuit assemblies as memory to store data persistently. SSD technology uses electronic interfaces compatible with traditional block input/output (I/O) hard disk drives, thus permitting simple replacement in common applications. Additionally, new I/O interfaces, like SATA Express, have been designed to address specific requirements of the SSD technology.

Big data analytics enables organizations to analyze a mix of structured, semi-structured and unstructured data in search of valuable business information and insights. Big data is difficult to work with using most relational database management systems and desktop statistics and visualization packages, requiring instead "massively parallel software running on tens, hundreds, or even thousands of servers".
