The first thing you should look for when annotating a test question--
What are key words?
The reader can conclude
What is an inference question?
When the story introduces the setting and characters
What is the exposition (introduction)?
tells the story from his/her point of view (I/Me)
What is first person point of view?
What is a simile?
I do this to make sure that I understand what the question is asking me
What is restate the question in my own words?
Which idea is supported
What is main idea (summary) question?
What is rising action?
places the reader in the story (you)
What is second person point of view?
When the author uses creative tone or words to describe something or how someone feels
(i.e. I have a million things on my to do list.)
What is figurative language?
I can sometimes do this after restating the question if the answer choice does not make sense with what the question is asking
What is eliminate answer choices that do not make sense (Process of Elimination)?
The author uses this to show
What is author's purpose question?
The turning point of the story (when something happens that changes the plot of the story)
What is the climax?
What is third person point of view?
A visual description of something or someone
What is imagery?
I do this once I have finished annotating the question and eliminating answer choices that do not make sense
What is read the passage (annotate the passage)?
The reader can tell that
What is an inference question?
The problem in the story
What is the conflict?
when you get multiple characters point of view
What is 3rd person omniscient point of view?
When words are used to describe how something sounds
What is sensory language?
I do this before moving on to the next question
What is double check my answer choice? (Can my answer choice be proven)

What is a compare and contrast question?
When the conflict gets resolved
What is the resolution (conclusion)?
When the narrator tells you the thoughts of only one character in the story
What is 3rd person limited point of view?
He attempted to work with the girls' locks of hair but found the hair to be as slippery as a handful of wet noodles.
