Finding the Control Group
This group is compared to the other groups as the one that does not get the change or independent variable.

Bart believes that mice exposed to radio waves will become extra strong. He has two groups of ten mice. He places group A near a radio for 5 hours. Group B that had not been exposed to radio waves. To test the hypothesis he placed a wood block to block the door to the mice food. After 5 hours he found that 8 out of 10 of Group A mice were able to push the block away. 7 out of 10 of Group B mice were able to do the same.

No. There are too many independent variables being tested.

Students at a University were split into two groups and each received a different text for a philosophy course. Once group received a traditional text book, while the other received an interactive textbook on a tablet computer. In order for a experiment to be valid and develop creditable data this is needed. Without it, we can't know the impact of independent variable because too many things are changed.

He creates two groups of 50 workers each and assigns each group the same task (in this case, they're supposed to staple a set of papers). Group A is given the special juice to drink while they work. Group B is not given the special juice. After an hour, Smithers counts how many stacks of papers each group has made. Group A made 1,587 stacks, Group B made 2,113 stacks. What conclusion can they draw?
