Britain was exporting the drug opium into China. This was drug was affecting China’s economy and affecting their country socially. China attempted to stop the trade because of the evil it was bringing to its country. There was a series of two wars.

A race for raw materials began. Mainly in Europe and then other parts of the world, countries began looking to take over weaker nations in order to control their natural resources.

The Boxers wanted to force foreign troops put of China.
