The belief that one's country is better than another. Nationalism usually needs people to have a "national identity": shared language, culture, history, etc.
Describe some of the ways that Imperialism affected colonized countries.
Resources are exploited, cultures can be erased, governments can be taken over, some new technologies can be brought over, Christianity can be spread, etc.
What was the result of the rebellion, and why did it end like that?
It failed because of religious/cultural differences amongst the rebel troops. Sikh people also reinforced the British directly, helping end the rebellion.
What was the Boxer rebellion and what happened to it?
It was a group of Chinese martial artists who tried to rebel against British Imperialism but failed because of how many other European countries were involved with China at this time.
What did Dutch settlers call themselves after spending time in South Africa?

How did the industrial revolution affect workers?
Terrible working conditions, low pay and high hours, no protections for workers in case of injury or death, children enter the workforce.
How do people resist against imperialism?
Typically they will rebel using force, putting their lives on the line. They also might enforce policies to prevent foreign influence (think about Japan closing its borders)
How did Imperialism affect India?
Created interconnectedness, largest railway system in the world was built, telegraph lines were built, emperor was exiled, colonizers took control of the economy and government, etc.
How did Imperialism change China after it became independent?
Created Xenophobia and made way for the Chinese Communist Revolution
What was the Zulu Empire and how did they resist against imperialism?
They were a collective of different tribes that all came together. They fought against the British in numerous battles, even killing a descendant of Napoleon which resulted in a bloody battle where almost 6,000 Zulu died.
What was the Meiji Restoration and how was it possible?
It was when Japan industrialized very quickly after having their borders forcibly opened by America. They brought engineers from European countries as well as some of the technologies themselves in order to quickly build up their own industries.
