Riley has a big system in her brain that has trains and other transportation tubes that relay information. Message carrier.

___________ is what the short-term memories are turned into after being sent through the tube at the end of the day.
Long term memories
Used to translate Riley’s senses and then have a reaction to them. Relay station.
Thalamus
This tube is used in the movie to get Joy back to headquarters. Often used to bring something back from the past.
Recall
The traditional name for where Riley's memories, thoughts, and ideas are held.
Storage
This is used throughout the whole movie as the characters control the different emotional outputs of the brain. Region of brain associated with emotional processes.
Amygdala
Control room headquarters in the movie decide what to do. Guides decisions and processes.
Schema
is used in the movie for the storage of memories and the stepping stones of Riley's learning as she ages. Found in her temporal lobe.
hippocampus
In the movie, Riley has this happen to correlate an image with a good memory. When something previously experienced is again encountered.
Recognition
All of Riley’s experiences get witnessed and each of the characters have ways to resolve these. The way sensory information is organized, interpreted, and experienced

These special moments are placed in a secure area as they are essential experiences Riley went through.
