What are Learner, Leader, Citizen, Collaborator, Designer, Facilitator, and Analyst?
Teachers allow students to guide their own learning, acting as facilitators instead of preachers. This shifts away from the traditional role of the teacher as a gatekeeper of knowledge. Instead, you co-learn with students and arm them with the tools and skills to seek out knowledge.
This procedure outlines how technology can be gradually introduced and taught to students in 5 steps (entry, adoption, adaptation, infusion, and transformation) within 5 different learning environments (active, collaborative, constructive, Authentic, and goal-directed).
This standard embodies the ethical and legal expectations when participating in a digital space, as well as ensuring students recognize their rights, responsibilities and the risks of these spaces.
What is Digital Citizenship?
This standard calls on teachers to use technology to gather assessment data, and tailor assessments to individual learner needs.
What is Analyst?
Your Grade 3 students are using Google Jamboard to contribute to a KWL chart as they learn about early settlers in Canada.
What is Collaborative Adoption?
Students who set their own learning goals, and create the physical environment that nurtures their learning.
What is the Empowered Learner?
This type of instruction is required to make the curriculum accessible to all students by tailoring instruction and assessment to their individual needs. Technology can be used to facilitate this.
What is differentiated instruction?
Your students can opt to use Padlet to visually organize new information into mindmaps that connect to previous lessons.
What is Constructive Infusion?
These 7 standards frame the various roles of students as technology users in the classroom. They are designed to empower students and ensure that students have a voice in their learning.

What is the Engineering Design Process?
This standard echoes the OCT standards of practice that call on teachers to stay current with pedagogical research and to conduct action-research within their classrooms to explore various pedagogical approaches and reflect on their effectiveness.
