Geared toward those who are people of color, women, and those apart of the LGBTQIA community. This is the constant negative language, assaults, insults and even disregard that may happen to these marginalized populations.
What is the Micro-Aggression Process Model?

Helpful in understanding my own place within society. I also was able better understand how roles change as we develop and become older and how these roles can put a strain on relationships. An example is becoming a care giver of an aging parent.

This theory looks at changing power dynamics as a social worker in order to decrease racism and racial inequality. Can be complicated and as the social worker, in order to address this theory one must be culturally competent and because it is difficult, it may be less useful although it is necessary.

Working in small groups or institutions: consists of building relationships and connections within society. Looking at theory on this level of social work can allow the social worker to get a better understanding of a group dynamic.

Geared toward people of color and minorities within society, this theory provides an important framework that social workers can use to recognize, analyze, and change power dynamics that maintain institutional racism and reinforce racial inequality.
What is Critical Race Theory?

Helpful in understanding how I coped with those in my family that have passed away. I was able to better understand how death affects others differently than myself. Allowed for me to process my own views about dying.
What is the theory of Death and Dying?

This theory has to do with how people deal with adversities in their lives, the ways that people cope with negative situations, and what they are able to do to bounce back from potential trauma in their lives. This theory may not be helpful if as the social worker, we do know our own stressors or how to cope and practice resiliency. It is important that as a social worker, we know our own stressors, and are able to cope with these stressors, in order to help our clients practice resiliency after a trauma.
What is the stress, coping and resilience theory?

Allow for new discoveries to be made, by not only researchers, but social workers as well. Continue to educate and keep the door open to new ideas and theories.

Geared toward those who have a higher income, power, better living conditions and working conditions who are able to have better facilities, insurance and resources in order to maintain healthier lives. This theory looks at the economic and social conditions and their distribution among the population that influence individual and group differences in health status.

Theories are the foundation for social work practice. There is always room to grown our knowledge of theories. It is important as a social worker to stay involved with educational trainings related to social work theories in order to broaden our scope of knowledge relating to current theories.
What is it that we still need to know?

Through what I have learned in human behavior, I will be able to interconnect the different theories and apply them to my social work practice on the micro, mezzo, and macro level depending on which population I am working with as a social worker.
