What is the difference between and a IEP/504?
  • IEP: Students must meet the criteria for one of the 13 disability categories outlined in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). These categories include specific learning disabilities, autism, emotional disturbance, and others.
  • 504 Plan: Students are eligible if they have a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities. This definition is broader than the one under IDEA.
