This number identifies a carrier who transports regulated commodities for hire in interstate commerce. It allows the FMCSA, process agents, insurance companies and a shipper to verify the status of a carrier’s insurance coverage and that freight is being tendered to a legally licensed and insured carrier. Carriers moving cargo from state to state will have this number. Only carriers moving cargo within their registered state will NOT have this number. A motor carrier accepts a load but instead of hauling the load itself, they broker the load to another motor carrier. Double brokering is illegal and is not allowed at Corporate Traffic under any circumstance.
