A paired t test was used to predict that the changes in freshmen students enrolled in an intervention program would show higher levels of motivation and self-regulation from the beginning to the end of the freshmen year.

A self-report instrument consisting of 81 items using a 7 point Likert scale(not at all true of me to very true of me). Subscales assessed students motivational beliefs such as intrinsic motivation , task value, self-efficacy and learning performance.

The extent to which a student has attained their short or long term educational goals, often measured by grades, GPA, or completion rates.

A period before the start of an academic year at a university. A variety of events are held to orient and welcome new students during this period of transition from home to college.
The findings of this study suggest that the present support program had a positive impact on students' academic self-regulation development, motivational beliefs, and academic outcomes.
