How did the Bible get translated into English?

Around 400 A.D. the Bible was translated from the original languages into Latin because the church grew from Israel to Rome.

Around 1380 A.D. John Wycliffe, an English professor and theologian believed that the church leaders were teaching the people ideas that went against the Bible. Therefore, he translated the Bible from Latin to English so the people could read the Bible for themselves.

The Pope in Rome was so angry by Wycliffe's teachings and his translation of the Bible into English, that 44 years after Wycliffe had died, the Pope ordered that his bones be dug-up, crushed, and scattered in the river! After that, other people were persecuted for copying or reading translated Bibles.
