National Scope of Practice Model

Airborne transmission

Direct contact
The type of consent given when the patient specifically acknowledges that he or she wants you to provide care

Written document that specifies medical treatment for a competent patient should he or she become unable to make decisions

Process by which a person, an institution, or program is evaluated
Certification
Pathogenic microorganisms that are present in human blood and can cause disease in humans
Bloodborne pathogens
The contamination of water or food with an organism that can cause disease
Foodborne transmission
the ability for the patient to understand the information you are providing
decision-making capacity
Blood settling to the lowest point of the body, causing discoloration of the skin
Dependent lividity
Comprehensive legislation designed to protect people with disabilities
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
A disease that can spread from one person to another
Communicable
The use of an animal to spread an organism from one person or place to another
Vector-borne transmission
A person receiving care must give permission, or this for treatment
Consent
Stiffening of body muscles caused by chemical changes within the muscle tissue. Occurs between 2-12 hours after death
