Why was so important that Muslim artists didn’t draw the human figure?
It was started in the Qur’an that only Allah can create life so artists were discouraged from drawing living beings. Islam developed out of an area where people worshiped many Gods and idols, Muhammad wanted the Kaaba in Mecca destroyed because of all of the false idols that people were so attached to. If artists were drawing living beings, what if people started to worship them? It would destroy the monotheistic tradition created by Islam. So instead, Allah is the only creator, and he would not create another God to be worshiped.
