What is the difference between a messenger and a prophet?
The Messenger is someone sent to disbelieving people and the Prophet is one who is sent to believing people with the sharee'ah of the Messenger who came before him. A Prophet is only inspired by Allah and is not given a message to preach to others while a messenger is given a message to give to others through preaching and giving laws. Every messenger is also a prophet but not every prophet is a messenger.
